When I worked on my Master's in Forensic Psych, one of my research studies I worked on was how parents' mental health impacts children. In some instances (NOT ALL), mental issues can be learned behavior. Think about how we can be "broken records" with thoughts. Children SEE the same things from parents over and over and over during childhood and it CAN (not always) drive their behavior in adolescence and adulthood.
